ISLAMABAD: In a significant move to curb the rising trend of drug and tobacco use among young people, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) hosted a pivotal meeting under the directives of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. The gathering focused on collaborative measures to safeguard the younger generation from substance abuse.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the meeting was attended by key figures including SP Industrial Area Zone Khalid Mehmood Awan, the SHO Women Police Station, a law officer, and officials from HEC. The discussions centered on reinforcing strategies to combat drug and tobacco use within educational institutions, enhancing awareness among youth, and organizing awareness seminars.

Participants underscored the necessity of educating children and young people about the dangers of drugs and tobacco from an early age. They advocated for a comprehensive and coordinated awareness campaign, emphasizing close cooperation among all relevant entities.

The assembly resolved to intensify awareness activities in educational settings, aiming to shield young individuals from adverse influences while promoting education, healthy lifestyles, and positive engagement. The Islamabad Police reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with pertinent institutions to bolster preventive measures against drugs and tobacco, playing a crucial role in protecting the youth from substance abuse.
