Islamabad: Hamza Shehbaz Sharif, Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and former Chief Minister of Punjab, recently visited the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s Digital Communication Department in the capital city, highlighting the critical role of digital media in public communication. The visit underscored the department’s efforts in countering misinformation and promoting government initiatives through digital platforms.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Information Minister, Attaullah Tarar, along with Federal Secretary for Information Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil and other senior ministry officials, welcomed Mr. Sharif. During the visit, Mr. Tarar provided a comprehensive briefing on the department’s scope and activities. He emphasized the significance of digital media as a tool for disseminating information and maintaining public engagement, particularly in addressing negative propaganda against Pakistan.

The PML-N Vice President expressed significant interest in the department’s operations and reiterated the importance of digital media in ensuring timely public access to information. He highlighted the role of digital platforms in projecting Pakistan’s positive image globally and effectively communicating the national narrative. Mr. Sharif commended the ministry’s initiatives in digital communication and its use of modern technology.

In addition to his visit to the Digital Communication Department, Mr. Sharif, accompanied by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, visited the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad. There, he offered condolences to a mother who lost her child in a recent incident at the institution.
