Islamabad: Half of Pakistani men use petrol-powered motorcycles, with a higher prevalence among urban residents, the younger demographic, and those with higher education levels, according to a recent survey by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan.

According to Gilani Research Foundation, the survey revealed that 50% of the male population uses petrol-powered motorcycles, while the other half does not. The study highlighted significant variations in motorcycle usage based on education, location, and age. Men with education levels of FA and above reported the highest usage at 68%, compared to 47% among those with less education. Urban men were more likely to use petrol-powered motorcycles (53%) than their rural counterparts (48%). Additionally, younger men under 30 showed higher usage rates (54%) compared to those aged 30-50 (47%) and those over 50 (49%).

The survey employed telephonic interviews with a representative sample of 680 men from urban and rural areas across Pakistan’s four provinces. Conducted between March 18 and March 31, 2026, the survey maintains an error margin of approximately ± 2-3 percent at a 95% confidence level. These findings underscore the widespread reliance on petrol-powered motorcycles among Pakistani men, with marked differences based on educational attainment, urbanization, and age.
