Islamabad: Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has declared the construction of a high-quality motorway from Karachi to Sukkur as a key priority for the government, emphasizing the need for safe and efficient transportation routes to boost regional connectivity and economic growth.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a meeting with the National Highway Authority held today in Islamabad, Minister Aleem outlined the government’s focus on enhancing Pakistan’s road infrastructure. He stressed the urgency of constructing roads from Karachi to Quetta and from Mansehra to Babusar Top as well. The minister highlighted the strategic goal of connecting Pakistan’s road network with Central Asian countries to facilitate trade and economic integration.
Minister Aleem also addressed regulatory measures, stating that trucks carrying loads above the prescribed weight would not be permitted on any National Highway Authority roads to prevent overuse and damage. He ordered the implementation of M-Tag on all motorways to streamline traffic and enhance toll collection systems. Additionally, he called for third-party evaluations of various projects by multinational companies to ensure quality and transparency in the execution of these critical infrastructure projects.
