ISLAMABAD: Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema has directed authorities to create a mechanism to enable overseas Pakistanis to invest in national infrastructure projects, aiming to attract foreign investment and boost the country’s development.

According to Radio Pakistan, during a meeting held in Islamabad, Cheema emphasized the need for accelerated development of viable projects under the Public-Private Partnership framework. The meeting reviewed several infrastructure initiatives, including the Main Line-1 railway project, the Kharian-Rawalpindi Motorway, and various proposals by the Capital Development Authority, such as the Gandhara Cultural project and the expansion of Capital Hospital.

Cheema’s directive is part of a broader strategy to engage the Pakistani diaspora in contributing to the country’s infrastructure growth while providing them with investment opportunities. The focus on bankable projects is intended to ensure sustainable economic development and attract consistent foreign investment.
