Rawalpindi: The government is actively working to promote sports and enhance facilities for youth, with a focus on grassroots-level athlete encouragement, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, announced. Speaking at a ceremony at Waqar-un-Nisa College for Women in Rawalpindi, he distributed 127 hockey kits to players from across the district.
According to Press Information Department, Barrister Danyal emphasized that the initiative aims to provide young players with essential sports equipment while revitalizing hockey at the grassroots level. Both the federal and Punjab governments are taking steps to nurture young sporting talent, he noted.
The Parliamentary Secretary highlighted the importance of collaboration between the education and sports sectors to create more opportunities for youth to showcase their abilities. He underscored the role of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence among young individuals.
Referring to hockey as Pakistan’s national sport, Barrister Danyal stressed the need to attract the new generation to the game, given its rich legacy and history. Promoting hockey at the grassroots level, he said, will help develop future stars who can achieve success for Pakistan on both national and international stages.
