Lahore: A senior delegation from Google visited the Office of AI Punjab to discuss strategies for enhancing the AI and technology ecosystem in the region. The meeting, which included Ali Dar, Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on AI and Special Initiatives, focused on providing better access to AI tools for developers and startups, and creating opportunities for Punjab’s technology community. The delegation was led by Wilson White, Asia Pacific’s Vice President for Government Affairs & Public Policy and Platforms & Devices, APAC.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the discussions were in line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif to establish Punjab as a leading AI and technology hub in South Asia. Ali Dar highlighted the importance of connecting young Pakistani developers and startups with global AI tools and skills. He noted that AI is being used to boost productivity for citizens and businesses, and to streamline everyday processes.
Ali Dar further mentioned that the Office of AI Punjab acts as a central point for coordinating the government’s AI initiatives and serves as a bridge to the province’s technology ecosystem. He stated that Google and the Office of AI are working together to expand cooperation, aiming to create new opportunities for developers and startups in Punjab. He emphasized that the responsible adoption of AI will help in building a robust and inclusive technology ecosystem in the province, ensuring that the benefits of AI are accessible to citizens, businesses, and the government.
