Islamabad: Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, met with Ms. Laura Jalosjoki, the Country Representative for Nepal and Pakistan of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), to discuss strategies for accessing climate financing and improving sustainable development in Pakistan.
According to Press Information Department, Ms. Jalosjoki briefed Dr. Malik on how GGGI can assist Pakistan in strategic economic planning and developing frameworks to secure climate financing. The discussions focused on the Pakistan Country Program 2024-2028, which includes engaging the private sector in climate finance, strengthening agriculture value chains, and improving energy efficiency using AI-enabled systems.
The meeting also touched upon the Global Clean Hydrogen Program, which is being considered for Pakistan. This initiative aims to aid Pakistan’s transition toward net-zero emissions by enhancing hydrogen-related capacity. The program is active in nine countries and aims to reduce around 2.3 million metric tons of CO2 emissions globally.
Dr. Malik expressed appreciation for GGGI’s involvement with Pakistan and emphasized the need for policies that are practical and aligned with Pakistan’s national development needs.
