Fire Breaks Out at Mayor’s Office in Karachi; No Lives Lost, Investigation Underway: Mayor Murtaza Wahab

Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab confirmed that no lives were lost in the fire at the Mayor’s Office, and all personnel are safe. The financial damage would be addressed promptly.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab commended the Fire Brigade for controlling the incident promptly. He stated that a thorough investigation by the Fire Brigade would reveal the cause of the fire, after which further details would be released.

Mayor Wahab noted that while his office was severely damaged, no official records were lost as they are not stored in the Mayor’s room. The initial assessment suggests the fire might have been caused by an air-conditioning fault, but conclusive findings will follow the investigation.

Despite the incident, Mayor Wahab assured that his official duties would proceed from another office space, and routine city activities would continue. A press conference on development projects has been postponed but will be rescheduled shortly.

An internal review of the incident is underway, and all evidence, including CCTV footage, will be scrutinized. The Chief Fire Officer has been tasked with leading the inspection and investigation. Fire safety measures, including extinguishers, were effectively used during the emergency response.
