KARACHI: Karachi is undergoing significant development under the leadership of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), with infrastructure projects and healthcare improvements reshaping the city, according to Karamullah Waqasi, spokesperson for the Mayor of Karachi and PPP Parliamentary Leader in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, major infrastructure initiatives, including roads, bridges, flyovers, and underpasses, are being rapidly advanced to improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion in the city. Key projects include Shahrah-e-Bhutto, which links southern Karachi with the M-9 Motorway, and the Azeem Pura Flyover, which connects various important areas and was completed ahead of schedule. Other infrastructure efforts, such as the Malir Export Processing Zone bridge and the Korangi-Landhi Flyover, are also contributing to improved commercial activity and commuting ease.

The focus on development extends beyond infrastructure. Healthcare facilities have seen revitalization, notably the Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases, which performed over 3,000 heart surgeries and 240 angioplasties in the past year. Additionally, the restoration of Spencer Eye Hospital has led to over 200 eye operations. These improvements are part of a broader effort to provide affordable and accessible healthcare to Karachi’s residents.

The development agenda also includes enhancing recreation and public spaces, with improvements to Peoples Square, Kakkri Ground, and Baldia Sports Complex. The coordinated efforts between the Sindh government and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation aim to transform Karachi into a modern and economically vibrant city, driven by the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, and Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab.
