Islamabad: The Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises, led by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, convened to discuss significant changes in the governance of state-owned enterprises. The meeting, held at the Finance Division, was attended by various ministers, federal secretaries, and senior officers from relevant ministries.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, the committee approved the reconstitution of the Boards of Directors for the Karachi Tools, Dies, and Mould Centre (KTDMC) and the Technology Upgradation and Skills Development Company (TUSDEC). The new boards, consisting of both private sector appointees and ex-officio directors, are set to serve three-year terms. Mr. Abdur Razaaq Gauhar and Mr. Muhammad Noor ud Din Daud were appointed as chairmen of KTDMC and TUSDEC, respectively.
The reconstitution aligns with the 2023 State-Owned Enterprises Ownership and Management Policy, which aims to bolster corporate governance and operational efficiency. The committee also reviewed business plans from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) and Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV), focusing on sustainable development and financial growth.
The PBC’s plan targets income generation through improved content and better utilization of assets, while PTV’s strategy includes digital expansion and content licensing. The committee approved both plans and emphasized the importance of operational excellence, advising the ministry to optimize asset use through private sector collaboration.
