Federal Minister Vows to Address Delays in Islamabad Housing Project


Islamabad: Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring high-quality housing and addressing delays in residential projects during his visit to the Sky Gardens housing scheme today. The project, initially launched in 2019, has faced various setbacks but is now progressing with significant infrastructural developments.



According to Press Information Department, Minister Pirzada was accompanied by Dr. Shazad Khan Bangash, Secretary of Housing and Works, and other senior officials during the site inspection at Sky Gardens, also known as Green Enclave-II. The housing project, situated in Mauza Kathar Mengal near the Murree Expressway, spans over 11000 K and is a joint venture under the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA), an attached department of the Ministry of Housing and Works.



During the visit, Pirzada received a detailed briefing from the Director General of FGEHA and held discussions with the contractors about the ongoing development, which includes road construction, boundary walls, water supply, and sewerage systems. The current phase of development, with an estimated cost of Rs.7.944 Billion, is concentrated in blocks H, J, and K.



The Minister assured the public of the government’s priority to provide superior residential facilities and to expedite the completion of all ongoing housing projects. He described the location as a future paradise of urban housing, commending the contractors and workers for their dedication.



Additionally, Pirzada inaugurated the Commoners Bridge and participated in a tree-planting ceremony. He highlighted the land-sharing formula for the developed plots within the scheme, which allocates 70:30 for residential and 45:55 for commercial use. The ongoing infrastructural activities in some blocks are scheduled to be completed by December this year, with the entire project expected to conclude by the end of 2026.
