Islamabad, Dr. Nadeem Jan, the Federal Health Minister, has called for a series of reforms to enhance the Pakistan Nursing Council’s performance. In a recent meeting, he directed the swift establishment of a one-window cell for paramedic registration and emphasized the need for digitizing the Nursing Council. Dr. Jan also proposed that Lady Health Workers be integrated under the Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council.
According to Press Information Department, To maintain a consistent communication flow, he advocated for a focal person to liaise with HEC concerning curriculum-related matters. Highlighting the indispensable role of nurses in healthcare, Dr. Jan assured that the Ministry of Health will support the formulation of regulations under the PNMC Act 2023 and called for collaboration with international bodies for technical support to PNMC. As part of the reforms, he emphasized elevating the number of nurses in hospitals to match global standards, while also focusing on their education and career planning.
