Islamabad, Caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhter has confirmed the federal government’s commitment to assisting the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government in resolving its financial issues, in line with constitutional obligations.
According to Radio Pakistan, Dr. Shamshad Akhter conveyed this assurance during a meeting with KPK Caretaker Chief Minister Syed Arshad Hussain Shah in Islamabad today, where they discussed various matters of mutual interest.
In a separate meeting, the Caretaker Finance Minister chaired the kick-off meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Technical Assistance Mission on digitizing the budget process. During this session, she highlighted the importance of customizing recommendations to meet the specific needs of the Ministry, aiming to enhance the effectiveness of the budget-making process through digitization.
The IMF Technical Assistance Mission, led by Senior Economists from the Public Financial Management Division, Fazeer Rahim and Sybi Hida, pledged to propose practical solutions to the Ministry. This initiative marks a significant step towards modernizing Pakistan’s financial management systems and improving overall fiscal governance.
The federal government’s commitment to assisting KP in its financial challenges and the move towards digital budgeting are seen as critical developments in Pakistan’s broader economic reform efforts.
