Eurasian Economic Commission and Pakistan Discuss Trade Potential in Virtual Meeting


Islamabad: In a recent virtual meeting, Andrey Slepnev, the Member of the Board and Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), and Jam Kamal Khan, the Federal Minister for Commerce of Pakistan, discussed the potential for expanding trade relations between their respective regions. The dialogue focused on the prospects of enhancing economic cooperation and exploring new trade agreements.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting underscored the significance of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in fostering mutually beneficial relations with South Asian countries. Slepnev emphasized the dynamic development of trade between the EAEU and Pakistan and highlighted the potential for further expansion. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Commerce Minister, Jam Kamal Khan, expressed interest in establishing a strategic partnership with the EAEU, covering areas such as logistics, energy cooperation, digital trade, industrial collaboration, and supply chain integration.



Both parties acknowledged the prospects for economic cooperation and agreed to set up a Joint Feasibility Study Group. This initiative aims to assess the economic implications and feasibility of introducing a preferential trade regime between the EAEU and Pakistan, reflecting a commitment to pursue structured dialogue and potential trade agreements.
