Election Commission of Pakistan Confirms Readiness for General Elections with Enhanced IT Systems

Karachi, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has confirmed the full operational readiness of its systems for the upcoming general elections. In an update today, the ECP assured that all operational and IT systems are functioning satisfactorily, dispelling any concerns regarding their ability to conduct the forthcoming elections efficiently.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the ECP has developed an advanced Election Management System (EMS) to streamline and compile election results. This automated system, which has undergone several tests, will transfer results from Presiding to Returning Officers. The EMS, equipped with additional functions and features, is designed to enhance the efficiency of Returning Officers and provide valuable data throughout the election process.

The ECP clarified that the primary function of the EMS is to transmit and tabulate election results exclusively on polling day. Addressing potential concerns, the commission assured that the transmission and tabulation processes are secure and carry no risk. It also highlighted that Internet connectivity would not be required for the tabulation of election results.

To further bolster the system’s reliability, the ECP is ensuring the provision of fiber optic facilities to Returning Officers. Additionally, a Wi-Fi device will be available as an alternate arrangement, ensuring seamless operations during the elections.

The Election Commission’s announcement comes as a significant reassurance in the run-up to the general elections, reflecting their commitment to conducting a smooth and transparent electoral process.
