ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has sanctioned a series of financial measures, endorsing Technical Supplementary Grants across various governmental ministries and divisions. The ECC convened in Islamabad under the leadership of Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, where it approved significant allocations, including 100 million rupees for the Cannabis Control and Regulatory Authority’s facilities and 311 million rupees to support incentives for PAS and PSP officers stationed in Balochistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, the committee also consented to 372 million rupees for advancing the digital transformation of the National Accountability Bureau through AI-based systems and 30 million rupees as financial rewards for the Pakistan National Hockey Team following their qualification for the FIH Hockey World Cup. Furthermore, discussions included a proposal for 5.985 billion rupees to assist PIA Holding Company Limited in settling liabilities of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited, specifically for medical and pension reimbursements and salary disbursements.

The ECC approved modifications to the Import-Cum-Export Scheme of IPO, 2022, and the Export Facilitation Scheme, 2021, to permit temporary import of used vehicles and auto parts for refurbishment and re-export under a trial project, with a scheduled review after one year. Additionally, the committee was briefed on key economic indicators, noting a decrease in prices of essential commodities such as tomatoes, onions, and wheat flour, alongside marginal increases in items like eggs and milk, suggesting an easing in inflationary pressures.
