Jeddah: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has pledged close cooperation with Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, who has been elected by consensus as the new Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The election took place at the 23rd extraordinary session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ishaq Dar extended his congratulations to Ahmed through a post on his X handle, expressing his best wishes for Ahmed’s success in promoting Islamic unity, peace, and shared aspirations. Dar highlighted his commitment to collaborating with the new Secretary-General to enhance partnerships and cooperation within the Islamic community.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed hope that Ahmed’s leadership would invigorate the OIC’s role as a platform for dialogue and collective action.
