ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee to discuss preparations for the upcoming South Asian Federation (SAF) Games, marking a significant step forward in the organization of the event.
According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting confirmed the games will take place from April 4 to 11, 2027, in collaboration with the South Asian Olympic Committee. Key decisions made during the meeting included the appointment of a National Coordinator and the approval of the composition of the Steering, Organizing, and Provincial Committees.
The event is set to feature 28 sports, with over 6,000 athletes and officials expected to participate across various venues in Islamabad, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of coordination among all involved parties to ensure the venues are completed on time and that the highest standards are maintained for the successful hosting of the Games.
Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister instructed the Steering Committee to convene monthly to monitor the progress of the preparations.
