Deputy Prime Minister Directs Transparency in Wheat Import Process


Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has instructed relevant authorities to maintain full transparency in the wheat import process, emphasizing the importance of coordination with all provinces. The directive was issued during a steering committee meeting on wheat import held in Islamabad.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Deputy Prime Minister assured that the government is committed to supporting provincial administrations in stabilizing prices and ensuring an adequate supply of essential commodities, such as wheat. Dar reviewed the wheat import requirements as communicated by the provinces and tasked the Trading Corporation of Pakistan with preparing to import one million metric tons of wheat.



The meeting included participation from the Ministers for National Food Security & Research and Economic Affairs, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, the Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Food Security, Secretaries from the Ministries of National Food Security & Research and Commerce, and representatives from the provincial governments of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
