Islamabad: Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan Nasar emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening local governance as a means to enhance economic activities, resolve public issues, and improve governance. In a series of meetings at Parliament House, Nasar discussed with various stakeholders the importance of local government systems in addressing day-to-day public concerns and promoting democratic engagement.

According to Senate of Pakistan, the discussions included notable figures such as Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works Senator Nasir Butt, member Kashmir Women Commission Rehana Khan, and Member Balochistan Assembly Mir Mohammad Asim Kurd Gello. Nasar underscored the government’s efforts to engage the public and relevant stakeholders in consultations for practical solutions to public issues.

Nasar stated that a robust local government system is essential for effective governance and that local elections are crucial for strengthening democracy at the grassroots level. The government is taking measures to empower local governments, aiming for better resource utilization and timely resolution of public issues through elected representatives.

The Deputy Chairman highlighted the government’s focus on transparency and responsive public service delivery. He stressed that active local governance would not only bring decision-making closer to the people but also contribute to sustainable development and democratic continuity across the nation.
