Islamabad: The Cabinet Committee for Disposal of Legislative Matters, led by the Federal Minister for Law and Justice, has approved amendments to the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority Ordinance, 2002, and the new Public Procurement Rules, 2025. The committee also included the Geographical Indication Act, 2020, in the relevant schedule, while deferring proposed changes to the Drugs (Research) Rules, 1978, and railway land rules for further consultation.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting, chaired by Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, took place at the Ministry of Law and Justice and was attended by officials from various ministries and divisions. The committee considered amendments to the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority Ordinance, 2002, the new Public Procurement Rules, 2025, and the inclusion of the Geographical Indication Act, 2020. Additionally, discussions included discontinuation of the Condiment Allowance and an amendment to the Danish Schools Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
The committee approved the aforementioned matters, forwarding them to relevant ministries for further action. Discussions also addressed the utilization of railway land, with a briefing on revenue increases from such lands. However, the committee deferred decisions on railway land rules and the Drugs (Research) Rules, 1978, pending further consultation.
The deferred matters are set for reconsideration in future meetings after obtaining necessary clarifications from related departments.
