KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Council convened its general meeting on Friday at the KMC Head Office, presided over by Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab. Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad and Municipal Commissioner Abrar Jaffer were also in attendance. The council addressed a range of resolutions, highlighting significant administrative and development measures for the city.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, a total of 24 resolutions were presented during the meeting. Ten of these resolutions were unanimously approved, including the allocation of funds for routine expenses in the Finance & Accounts Department and the development of housing for the Hindu community in Malir. The council also approved post-facto funding for infrastructure projects, such as the construction of a flyover and improvements to various public facilities.

The meeting saw the majority approval of resolutions related to healthcare and infrastructure, such as the revival of the Nursing College at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and the allocation of grants for Spencer Eye Hospital. Some resolutions were deferred for further review, including the allotment of an amenity plot for a community center and the restructuring of KMC departments.

A resolution concerning outstanding payments for past road and drainage repairs was unanimously rejected, reflecting ongoing discussions about financial management within the KMC. Participants in the meeting included representatives from various political parties, who contributed to the discussions on each resolution presented.
