Bhind, MP: A harrowing incident in the Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh has drawn significant attention, where a Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped, followed by an attack on her family for refusing to settle the case outside of the legal system.
According to reports from Kashmir Media Service, the accused, accompanied by a dozen individuals, invaded the victim’s home, assaulted her relatives, and set their house ablaze, resulting in severe burns for two family members.
The suspects are identified as associates of Soni Gurjar and Dharmendra Gurjar. They allegedly pressured the victim’s family to retract the case and resorted to violence when the family refused. The attackers reportedly beat the victim’s father and another relative before vandalizing and setting the home on fire.
A family member recounted the ordeal, stating, “The men surrounded us, attacked my husband with sticks, and then burned our home. We screamed for help, but no one came.”
The victim’s family has accused local police of siding with the perpetrators, claiming that officers ignored their pleas for help during the attack. “We called the police when our house was set on fire, but they never arrived,” alleged a relative of the victim.
After the injured were taken to the Bhind District Hospital, the family claims they were coerced into silence. “The constables warned us not to speak about what happened,” one survivor told reporters. However, a police constable at the scene denied having any knowledge of the incident.
The situation remains tense as the Dalit community demands justice. The accused, including Hakim Gurjar, Jaiveer Gurjar, Brajaraaj Gurjar, and Gulli Gurjar, have yet to be apprehended, intensifying the family’s distrust in the justice system.
“This is not just an attack on one family – it’s an attack on justice itself,” commented a local activist. “If the police protect criminals, where do victims go?”
