Custodial Death in Reasi Sparks Outrage and Calls for Justice

Jammu: The suspicious death of a 25-year-old civilian, Anmol Dogra, inside a police station in Reasi district has ignited protests and demands for a thorough investigation by local authorities.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Dogra was reportedly found dead by hanging at the Katra police station, where he was detained for questioning related to a case last week. Indian officials have claimed it was a suicide, but this explanation has not been accepted by Dogra’s family or the local community.

Puran Chand, Dogra’s father, has publicly disputed the circumstances of his son’s death, questioning the possibility of his son obtaining the means to hang himself while in police custody. In response to the family’s grievances and the community’s unrest, Sub-divisional Magistrate Piyush Dotra has initiated a magisterial inquiry into the incident.

Following the post-mortem examination, the body was returned to the family, who, along with other villagers, blocked the main road near Mathyal village to protest the custodial death and call for justice for Dogra.
