Cow vigilantes seize truck carrying cattle in Telangana

New Delhi, July 11, 2023 (PPI-OT): Cow vigilantes, reportedly from the Hindutva chauvinist Bajrang Dal group, attacked and blocked the path of a truck transporting cattle in Neradigond a Mandal of Adilabad District in Indian state of Telangana. In a viral video, the Hindutva mob is shown preventing the truck carrying buffaloes from moving ahead, media reports reaching here said on Monday. However, the police seem to be giving a clean chit to the Bajrang Dal as they claimed that none of the group’s members took part in the incident.

After stopping the truck in the middle of the road, the miscreants opened the back door and reportedly seized the animals. Cattle trader, Shaikh Jilani, had purchased the animals from a market in Adilabad’s Srinu of Janakipeta Mandal. The trader claimed that he had paid all taxes relevant to the trade. However, he alleged, his truck was stopped as it was on its way to Wani Mandal on the Neradigonda highway. The miscreants also took away all his cattle.

Adilabad superintendent of police said a case has been booked against the cow vigilantes. The trader has also been booked for animal cruelty. Amjadullah Khan of Majlis Bachao Tahreek has demanded strict action against the culprits. In a tweet addressed to KT Rama Rao, Minister for Municipal Admin and Urban Development, Industry and Commerce, wanted his immediate intervention. Telangana, his tweet said, is turning into a saffron state due to the inaction of the police force towards Hindu radical elements.
