Continued house detention of Mirwaiz in Srinagar strongly denounced

Srinagar, December 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, has strongly denounced the continued house detention of its President, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. The Anjuman Auqaf in a statement said that the Mirwaiz completed 40 consecutive months, today, and during this period he was not allowed to offer Juma prayers 171 times.

It raised a strong voice of protest over the fact that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been kept under illegal and arbitrary house arrest by the occupation authorities, due to which he is unable to continue his religious mission of waz-o-tableegh that the institution of Mirwaiz enjoins upon him as the Mirwaiz of Kashmir, which is extremely condemnable and a matter of serious concern.

This is grave violation of the basic human rights of the Mirwaiz and sheer interference in religious affairs of Muslims of IIOJK, it said. The statement said, the faithful present at the mosque protested against the continued house detention of the Mirwaiz and prayed for his good health and release. It is to mention here that the Mirwaiz has been under continued house arrest since August 05, 2019 when the Modi regime repealed the special status of IIOJK.
