President and Prime Minister Urge Action for Safe, Resilient Food Systems


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have issued calls to action for stakeholders in agriculture and food systems to contribute to creating a safe, resilient, and nutritious food system. The leaders’ appeals were made in individual messages marking World Food Safety Day.



According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari highlighted the importance of science, data, and evidence-based methods in reducing the incidence of foodborne diseases and enhancing food safety outcomes. He emphasized the critical role each participant in the agriculture and food sector plays in ensuring food safety.



Prime Minister Sharif echoed this sentiment, noting that addressing the issues of foodborne illnesses and malnutrition due to unsafe food requires a shared responsibility and collective effort. Both leaders stressed the necessity for collaborative action to tackle these challenges effectively.
