Congolese Defence Delegation Visits Pakistan to Strengthen Military Ties


Rawalpindi: A high-level defence delegation from the Democratic Republic of Congo, led by Lieutenant General Banza Mwilambwe Jules, Chief of Defence of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo, visited Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces of Pakistan, at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. The meeting focused on discussions about mutual interests, the regional security environment, and opportunities for enhanced bilateral defence and security cooperation.



According to Inter Services Public Relations, the Congolese delegation was received with a Guard of Honour from a tri-services contingent upon their arrival. Both military leaders expressed satisfaction with the longstanding cordial relations between Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In a significant development, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed to broaden and strengthen defence and security cooperation between the two nations.



Earlier in the visit, Lieutenant General Banza Mwilambwe Jules met with Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff. The Congolese leader praised the professionalism and operational capabilities of the Pakistan Armed Forces, noting their commitment to regional peace and stability, as well as their achievements in indigenization and self-reliance.
