Srinagar, June 17, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health of its illegally detained chief and APHC Vice Chairman, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail.
The DFP in a statement issued in Srinagar said Shabbir Shah is suffering from various ailments and the communal jail authorities are denying him basic facilities including medical care and hygienic food as per the jail manual.
It said that this inhuman treatment to Shabbir Shah was part of the Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government’s policy to victimize the illegally detained Hurriyat leaders for challenging the Indian illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. The DFP called upon the world human rights organizations to take cognizance of the plight of the Kashmiri detainees and play role in their early release.
Meanwhile, people observed shutdown, today, in different areas of Srinagar to register their protest against the derogatory remarks of BJP leaders on the holy Prophet (peace be upon him). Most of the shops and business establishments were shut in downtown, Lal Chowk and other areas of the city.
The occupation authorities deployed Indian troops and police personnel in strength in Srinagar and elsewhere in the Kashmir Valley to prevent protests against blasphemous statements of the BJP officials. Fearing forceful demonstrations, the authorities did not allow people to hold Juma prayers at historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar and other mosques.
The occupation authorities continued to impose curfew in Bhaderwah town on the 9th day, today, and deployed more Indian force’s personnel to thwart demonstrations against the BJP leaders’ inflammatory remarks. Curfew was clamped in the town on the evening of June 09 after Hindutva organizations attacked the Muslims when they took out a protest against the derogatory remarks of the BJP leaders.
On the other hand, Indian troops continued their cordon and search operations in Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama and Islamabad districts on the fourth successive day, today. The troops have martyred six youth in these operations.
The newly elected Convener of APHC-AJK chapter, Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, in an exclusive interview with the Kashmir Media Service said that despite facing the worst Indian state terrorism, the Kashmiris were determined to continue their struggle for securing their right to self-determination till it reached its logical conclusion. He urged the United Nations to initiate measures to settle the lingering Kashmir dispute by implementing its resolutions on the subject.
In India, one person died and dozens sustained injuries as violent protests against the new military recruitment scheme continued in Talangana, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and other states on the third consecutive day, today. Angry mobs set ablaze several trains and railway stations across the country. Under the new recruitment scheme, which was unveiled on Tuesday, youth will be selected to join the armed services for four years, after which only 25 percent of them will be retained.
