Islamabad, July 20, 2023 (PPI-OT): The first meeting of the Provincial Finance Commission (PFC) was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah at Finance Department, Sindh Secretariat Karachi. The meeting was attended by Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, Mayor Sukkur Arsalan Sheikh, Additional Chief Secretary Local Government Syed Najam Ahmad Shah, Chairman of various District Councils. Meeting discussed the fair distribution of finance in the province and other related issues. On this occasion, Co-Chairman PFC Syed Nasir Shah explained the aims and objectives of forming the commission and highlighted its usefulness and necessity.
He added that this is the first meeting of the commission, but the next meeting will be held under the chairmanship of Chairman Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah. The agenda of the board was discussed in the meeting and all the members of the boards introduced themselves in detail. Minister said that since the selection of all the members of the boards has been done by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto purely on merit, each member has experience and expertise in his field. He added that according to the chairman’s vision, he financially strengthens and stabilizes the newly elected local body representatives to give relief to the people and only by financially stabilizing the elected local representatives, better service and relief can be given to the people at the grassroots level.
Minister said that all the members of the commission should use their full potential and experience so that the commission can meet the expectations of chairman Bilawal Bhutto and basic facilities can be available to the people at their doorsteps. Co-Chairman PFC Nasir Shah suggested the creation of a WhatsApp group of all the members of the commission with the objective of ensuring communication and coordination among all the members. Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab and Mayor Sukkur Arsalan Sheikh also presented their suggestions on this occasion. The Co-Chairman said on this occasion that the commission will have to go through various difficulties in the beginning but all the talented and honourable members of the commission know how to face all kinds of challenges.
