LAHORE: More than 125,000 e-bikes will be provided to talented male and female students under the “CM Maryam Nawaz E-Bike Scheme”. According to Chief Minister of Punjab, a special meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reviewed the E-Bike Scheme, during which the chief minister rejected proposals for down payments and additional charges beyond the monthly instalment for students. The Punjab government will also cover the interest and insurance costs associated with the e-bikes.

The meeting agreed in principle to set the monthly instalment for students at approximately Rs3,000. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also gave in-principle approval to gradually extend the “CM E-Bike Scheme” to government employees, departments, and public delivery riders.

The chief minister instructed that the e-bike portal be launched this week and arranged for e-bikes to be provided to eligible students within six weeks. The meeting was informed that helmets and safety rods would be included at no extra cost, and the e-bikes would come equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries.

In line with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s directives, aspiring students will receive complimentary two-day training in e-bike driving as part of the initiative.
