Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed deep grief over a van accident in Murree that resulted in several students sustaining burn injuries. The chief minister has called for an immediate report on the incident, which has prompted local officials to take swift action in response to the emergency.

According to Chief Minister of Punjab, Deputy Commissioner Murree, Zaheer Shirazi, was dispatched to the accident site to ensure the injured students were promptly transported to a hospital for treatment. In response to the initial findings, which highlighted issues of overloading and lack of fire safety measures, CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif has mandated a zero-tolerance policy towards the safety and fitness standards of school transportation.

The chief minister emphasized the importance of adhering to safety protocols, stating, “Failure to implement clear directives regarding school van safety is distressing and painful.” She further instructed that the injured children receiving treatment at Holy Family Hospital be given the best possible medical care. Additionally, the Commissioner of Rawalpindi has been directed to oversee the ongoing treatment of the students to ensure their recovery.
