China Commits to Support Pakistan’s Peace Mediation Role


ISLAMABAD: China has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Pakistan’s mediation efforts for peace and stability in the region. This affirmation was made by Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong during a meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad.



According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting also included discussions about recent developments related to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, following high-level talks in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. Ishaq Dar shared his experiences from his recent visit to Cairo, where he attended the R-4 Regional Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. The meeting aimed to enhance collaborative efforts with foreign ministers from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye to facilitate dialogue and peaceful resolutions to ongoing regional issues.



During the meeting, Ishaq Dar expressed appreciation for China’s role in supporting Pakistan’s peace initiatives. He specifically acknowledged the contributions made under President Xi Jinping’s Four-Point Proposal and the China-Pakistan Five-Point Initiative. The Chinese ambassador praised Pakistan’s successful efforts in de-escalation and stressed the importance of continued diplomatic engagement.



Both countries emphasized the necessity of resolving outstanding issues through dialogue and negotiations. Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to ongoing consultations and coordination with China, aiming to achieve shared goals of peace, stability, and development. The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to further deepen the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
