China and Pakistan Announce Plan to Promote Peace in Gulf and Middle East


BEIJING: China and Pakistan have announced a comprehensive five-point initiative aimed at restoring peace and stability in the Gulf and Middle East region. The initiative, unveiled after a meeting between China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar in Beijing, emphasizes immediate cessation of hostilities and prioritizes diplomatic dialogue to resolve ongoing conflicts.



According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the initiative calls for the protection of civilians and nonmilitary targets, urging all parties to adhere to International Humanitarian Law. The plan also highlights the importance of securing shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global trade and energy supplies. Additionally, China and Pakistan advocate for the primacy of the United Nations Charter, promoting multilateral efforts to establish a comprehensive peace framework in the region.



The two nations have stressed the need for all involved parties to commit to peaceful resolutions and to refrain from actions that could escalate tensions. This joint initiative underscores their commitment to fostering dialogue and ensuring the safety and security of the region’s infrastructure and shipping routes.
