Islamabad: A temporary ceasefire between the United States and Iran is holding steady despite rising tensions following the announcement of a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Masood Khan, former President of Azad Kashmir. Khan, who is also a former ambassador, emphasized Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts as a stabilizing force in the ongoing peace process.
According to Radio Pakistan, Khan addressed national media, acknowledging that the blockade poses significant risks but noting that the continuation of the ceasefire illustrates that diplomatic channels remain operational. Recent talks, he explained, were conducted in a constructive atmosphere, with both parties showing willingness to negotiate on key issues, particularly concerning nuclear arrangements.
Khan also cautioned that enforcement measures, such as the interception or diversion of vessels, could heighten tensions, especially with China, which is heavily reliant on Iranian oil. He stressed the importance of avoiding direct confrontations between major global powers.
