CDWP Approves Key Educational and Health Projects Under URAAN Pakistan Initiative


Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved several significant projects under the URAAN Pakistan Initiative, focusing on enhancing education and health infrastructure across the nation. The initiative, aimed at standardizing development and ensuring cost-effective progress, received a boost with the approval of the ICT Kuri and Sindh (Tandoo Muhammad Khan) Daanish School projects.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting, chaired by Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal, reviewed development initiatives across several sectors, including education, governance, and health. The forum approved seven projects worth Rs. 24.385 billion, aligning with the government’s broader vision for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.



Key decisions included the approval of a project to establish a Daanish School in ICT Kuri, with a focus on a girls’ hostel component, and a similar project in Sindh’s Tandoo Muhammad Khan. Both projects are part of the government’s strategy to provide standardized educational infrastructure. Additionally, the Sindh Health Support Program, primarily funded by the World Bank, received approval, underscoring the health sector’s importance in the development agenda.



Further approvals were granted for projects in governance and physical planning, including the strengthening of the Counter Terrorism Department in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the construction of a Model Prison in Islamabad. These initiatives are expected to enhance institutional capacities and improve infrastructure in key areas of governance and security.
