Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar Calls for Strategy to Tackle Energy Sector’s Circular Debt

Islamabad, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has instructed the Ministry of Energy to devise an effective and sustainable strategy to eliminate the circular debt plaguing Pakistan’s energy sector. During a meeting in Islamabad, he emphasized the need for collaborative efforts among stakeholders to address this critical financial challenge.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Kakar highlighted the government’s commitment to reducing circular debt and restoring the economy as a top priority. He noted the positive impact of the anti-power theft operation, which has significantly improved the recoveries of power distribution companies.

The meeting included a comprehensive briefing on the current state of circular debt within the petroleum and energy sectors. Various proposals were discussed to reduce the circular loans affecting different companies, indicating a proactive approach to financial management in these crucial sectors.

In a separate address at the Pakistan National Youth Convention in Islamabad, Prime Minister Kakar commended the role of the youth in Pakistan’s fight against terrorism. He underscored the significant portion of the country’s population that the youth represent, highlighting their potential to address emerging national security challenges effectively.

These initiatives demonstrate the government’s strategic focus on resolving financial issues in the energy sector while recognizing the vital role of the youth in national development and security.
