Islamabad, Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, at the High-Level Forum of BRF in Beijing, delineated the government’s plans to position Pakistan as a nexus for trade, transit, and transshipment, offering seamless connectivity to neighbouring regions and beyond.
He highlighted the operationalization of Gwadar’s deep seaport, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, which facilitates cargo ships aiding transshipment to regional countries, especially landlocked ones. An upcoming international airport in Gwadar was also mentioned as a part of this grand vision. This information was provided by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The Prime Minister spotlighted the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the Belt and Road Initiative’s flagship program, aiming to foster growth, interlink economies, and provide equitable opportunities. CPEC’s evolution includes facets like promoting livelihood, spurring innovation through IT and science and technology cooperation, environmental conservation, and encouraging international participation.
Addressing global challenges, Kakar emphasized the importance of collaborative solutions, infrastructure development, and the fulfillment of UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Speaking on Pakistan-China relations, the Prime Minister reflected on the completion of projects worth 25 billion dollars under CPEC, the enhancement of the country’s transport network, the addition of energy capacity to the national grid, and the anticipated completion of more energy projects in the coming years. Concluding his speech, Kakar extended his gratitude to the Chinese leadership for organizing the 3rd BRF and recognized President Xi’s vision for fostering global connectivity and shared development.
