Caretaker PM Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar Departs for 3rd Belt and Road Forum in Beijing

Islamabad, 16 Oct 2023: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has set off for Beijing on an official visit to attend the third Belt and Road Forum, which commences tomorrow. The visit, prompted by an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping, will witness PM Kakar addressing the high-profile forum centered on the theme “Connectivity in an Open Global Economy”.

At the forum, the Prime Minister aims to shed light on the achievements realized under the ambit of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in the past decade. Additionally, he will underscore future objectives tied to the initiative and fortify Pakistan’s commitment to this pivotal collaboration.

In a tweet preceding his departure, Kakar articulated his aspirations for the visit, emphasizing the anticipation of bolstering bilateral ties, pioneering new collaborations, and fostering regional connectivity to pave the way for a prosperous tomorrow.

An integral component of his Beijing itinerary includes bilateral deliberations with key Chinese dignitaries such as President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, along with interactions with other global leaders in attendance.

Prime Minister Kakar’s agenda also encompasses discussions with influential figures in the Chinese business arena, encompassing chiefs of mammoth corporations, aiming to explore cooperative ventures, especially those potentially taking root in Pakistan.

The visit is poised to culminate in the sealing of several agreements and Memorandums of Understanding, spanning diverse sectors including agriculture, health, industry, green energy, and space technology.

A subsequent trip to Urumqi is also on the cards, where the Prime Minister intends to liaise with local leadership and the business community, with the overarching goal of augmenting trade, investment, and fostering closer interpersonal ties.
