Islamabad: The British International Investment (BII) has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its investment footprint in Pakistan, following discussions with Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb. The meeting, held with Mr. Srini Nagarajan, Managing Director and Head of Asia at BII, centered on mobilizing private capital and exploring investment opportunities across key sectors.
According to Press Information Department, Mr. Nagarajan, accompanied by senior BII officials, outlined the institution’s 2026-31 investment strategy, which includes plans to invest at least $2 billion across Asia and Africa, with a notable focus on South Asia. Pakistan has been identified as a key investment destination in this strategy, and BII expressed a strong interest in expanding its investments in the country over the coming years.
The discussions emphasized mobilizing private capital alongside BII’s investments and leveraging its expertise in infrastructure, climate finance, and financial services. The Finance Minister welcomed BII’s commitment, highlighting improvements in macroeconomic stability and investor confidence, as well as ongoing structural reforms aimed at fostering private-sector-led growth.
The BII delegation pointed to the potential of private equity and private credit in strengthening Pakistan’s domestic investment ecosystem, while expressing interest in climate-related investments and infrastructure development. Senator Aurangzeb highlighted ongoing reforms and efforts to broaden investment channels, emphasizing the importance of deeper access to finance for sustainable economic growth.
Both parties discussed collaboration opportunities in climate finance and infrastructure, with BII offering its international experience to support government initiatives. The Finance Minister encouraged timely consideration of investment proposals and concrete transactions, agreeing to maintain close engagement with BII to explore actionable opportunities across Pakistan’s priority sectors.
