Karachi: The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement in Karachi successfully intercepted a narcotics smuggling attempt, seizing 212 kilograms of charas during an intelligence-based operation conducted in the city on September 8, 2026.

According to Press Information Department, the operation was initiated following credible intelligence, leading an Anti-Smuggling Organization team to attempt an interception of a suspicious Toyota Premio near Hassan Square Interchange on the Lyari Expressway. The vehicle, bearing registration No. CBQ-843, did not comply and fled, prompting a pursuit that culminated near Aga Khan Hospital after the vehicle collided with a Customs Vigo. The Customs team faced aerial firing from suspected accomplices during the pursuit.

Despite these challenges, the Customs personnel managed to intercept the vehicle and transported it to the Superhighway Check Post for examination. A thorough search of the vehicle’s trunk revealed 212 packets of charas, each weighing approximately one kilogram, totaling 212 kilograms.

The seized narcotics and vehicle are now in custody as legal proceedings are initiated. An FIR is being registered under relevant legal provisions.

The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Karachi, along with Pakistan Customs, has reiterated its commitment to tackling smuggling and narcotics trafficking through intelligence-driven operations. The agency emphasizes its ongoing efforts to prevent the illegal movement of contraband and safeguard society from the impacts of narcotics and smuggling.
