Balochistan’s NFC Share Doubled in Bid for Equitable Growth

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a substantial increase in Balochistan’s share of the National Finance Commission (NFC) award, revealing that the allocation for the province has been doubled. This decision is aimed at fostering equitable development and addressing longstanding grievances.

During a ceremony for the Jinnah Square Murree Road Underpass project in Islamabad, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized his government’s commitment to balanced development across all provinces. “Balochistan is a vital part of Pakistan,” he stated, highlighting ongoing projects that align with the aspirations of the province’s residents.

While specific figures and timelines for the revised NFC allocation were not disclosed, the prime minister described the increase as a crucial step toward national cohesion and inclusive growth.

In his remarks, the prime minister also lauded infrastructure efforts in Islamabad, noting advancements in beautifying and modernizing the capital. He credited Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi with accelerating development, coining the term “Pakistan speed” to describe the progress.

The Jinnah Square underpass project, expected to be completed in 35 days instead of the planned 60, is among several initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure. Other ongoing projects include traffic congestion alleviation efforts at Faisal Masjid Chowk and the operationalization of the Blue Area parking plaza.

Prime Minister Shehbaz also referenced positive economic indicators, citing a recent upgrade by Fitch, which improved Pakistan’s outlook from ‘CCC’ to ‘B?’ with a stable projection. He attributed these advancements to collective efforts, stating, “With stability in the economy, we are moving forward on the path of development and prosperity.”
