Quetta: The Balochistan Police recently wrapped up a two-week internship program for students from various higher education institutions across the province, marking the occasion with a ceremony at the Central Police Office. The program, aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of police work among the youth, concluded with insightful speeches and a commitment to bridge the gap between the police and community.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the Chief Guest of the ceremony, IG Police Balochistan Muazzam Jah Ansari, expressed his optimism about the role of the youth in shaping a peaceful society. He emphasized the police’s duty to provide a safe environment and described the internship as an initiative to acquaint students with the realities of police work so they can act as informed ambassadors of the institution in society. IG Ansari highlighted that the nature of the police force mirrors the society it serves, noting that the Balochistan police are perceived as more approachable compared to their counterparts in other provinces, a reflection of the province’s societal traits where people freely express their views.
During a question and answer session, IG Ansari addressed the challenges faced by the region, including terrorism, but reassured that the law and order situation was under control and that the police were effectively fulfilling their duties. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by police officers in the fight against terrorism and encouraged the interns to portray a positive image of the police based on their observations.
The ceremony concluded with IG Ansari urging the community to recognize and support their local police, stressing that public trust is essential for law enforcement to achieve its objectives. He also directed the expansion of the internship program to reduce the existing disconnect between the public and the police, taking into account the feedback received from the participants.
