Srinagar, July 02, 2023 (PPI-OT): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Kashmiri businessman, Sampat Prakash in Srinagar, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The 85-year-old activist Sampat Prakash, Kashmir’s most prominent and respected trade unionist, passed away yesterday in Srinagar, due to cardiac arrest.
APHC leaders visited the residence of a senior trade leader in Harwan, Srinagar, and expressed condolence with his family on his sad demise. On this occasion, Hurriyat leaders paid rich tributes to the deceased for raising his voice against the human rights violations and also the plight of political prisoners.
APHC leaders Syed Bashir Andrabi, Khawaja Firdous and Abdul Samad Inqilabi in their statements in Srinagar said that Sampath Prakash was a symbol and preacher of religious tolerance in Kashmir and his death has created a vacuum in the atmosphere of politics and religious tolerance in Jammu and Kashmir. They also expressed their sympathy and solidarity with the bereaved family members. Meanwhile, the APHC-AJK Convener, Mahmood Ahmad Saghar in a statement in Islamabad also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family, saying Sampat Prakash has been instrumental in shaping the trade union activism in IIOJK.
