AJK President Calls for Global Advocacy by Kashmiri Diaspora on Kashmir Issue

Islamabad: Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), has called on the Kashmiri diaspora to actively engage and utilize every possible avenue to advance the Kashmir cause on international stages.

According to Kashmir Media Service, during a discussion with International Kashmir Peace Forum (IKPF) Europe President Zahid Iqbal Hashmi, who visited him at Kashmir House in Islamabad, Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry highlighted the diaspora’s essential role in exposing the actions of the Indian government in the region, especially concerning Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He stressed the importance of a united and vocal international Kashmiri community in bringing the issues of Kashmir to the forefront of global dialogue.

The AJK president pointed out the insufficiency of the elections in IIOJK as a representation of the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. He reaffirmed that the Kashmiri people, despite significant sacrifices in their quest for freedom, remain steadfast in their demands for their rights.

Chaudhry also accused the Modi government of instigating a campaign of intimidation in IIOJK and expressed concerns over attempts to alter the region’s leadership to further the Hindutva agenda.
