Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the necessity of transforming Pakistan’s education system to meet the demands of the ongoing knowledge revolution. Speaking at an international conference on Education, Research and Action, Iqbal highlighted the pivotal role of artificial intelligence and the importance of aligning the nation’s education system with future needs.

According to Press Information Department, Iqbal stressed that clinging to outdated educational methods would hinder progress and called for a system fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. He criticized the colonial legacy in education for stifling independent thought and underscored the inadequacy of relying solely on English for development.

The Minister announced a curriculum revision aimed at preparing students for a dynamic world and urged universities to actively engage in research and innovation to tackle national issues. He highlighted the importance of updating teacher training and equipping youth with modern skills, deeming them the country’s greatest asset.

Iqbal pointed out that Pakistan’s success hinges on enhancing intellectual, research, and creative capacities, supported by effective institutions and implementation strategies. He advocated for a balance between technological advancement and cultural identity, aligning with the Quranic encouragement of exploration and inquiry.

Drawing on Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s teachings, the Minister called for an education system that not only prepares individuals for employment but also for leadership and national development.
