Islamabad, Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani has emphasized the need to deepen bilateral relations with Malaysia, particularly in maritime cooperation, during discussions with Royal Malaysian Navy Chief Admiral Tan Sri Abdul Rahman bin Ayob.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in a meeting that also included Pakistan’s Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Acting President Gillani highlighted the strong ties at international forums and the potential for further enhancement for mutual benefits. He urged for more extensive collaboration in training and exchange programs between the navies of Pakistan and Malaysia, which he believes will solidify their naval cooperation further. The talks also covered the ongoing partnership in AMAN naval exercises and support for Pakistan’s bid to become a Full Dialogue Partner of ASEAN.
Additionally, during a special investiture ceremony, Admiral Tan Sri Abdul Rahman bin Ayob was awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) in recognition of his significant contributions to strengthening naval relations between the two nations. The Acting President and the Malaysian Naval Chief both expressed their commitment to continuing and expanding their collaborative efforts.
