Islamabad: World Hemophilia Day is being observed today to raise awareness about hemophilia, a rare blood disorder, and to promote better understanding and diagnosis of the condition. This year’s theme, “access for all: women and girls bleed too,” focuses on addressing the underdiagnosis and lack of services for women and girls who suffer from bleeding disorders.
The global bleeding disorders community is being called upon to take action to change the current situation. Recognition, diagnosis, treatment, and care are highlighted as crucial steps for improving the quality of life for women and girls affected by these conditions.
Hemophilia is characterized by the blood’s inability to clot normally due to a deficiency in blood-clotting proteins. Today’s observance aims to unite efforts towards a stronger and more inclusive bleeding disorders community.
