Karachi: A recent survey has found that 83% of Pakistanis believe the use of two-wheelers by women has significantly risen over the past three years, with a more pronounced perception of this trend in urban areas compared to rural regions. According to Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, 55% of respondents reported a substantial increase in this trend, while 28% observed a moderate rise. The survey included a diverse cross-section of 811 married individuals from both urban and rural settings across the country’s four provinces.
The survey, conducted between March 18 and March 31, 2026, aimed to assess public perception regarding the use of two-wheelers by women, including bicycles, motorcycles, and scooties. While a significant majority acknowledged the growth of this trend, 7% of those surveyed noted no change, and 10% were uncertain. The findings, released by the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International, highlight a marked difference in perception between urban and rural respondents, with 91% of urban participants indicating an increase compared to 77% in rural areas. The survey’s results have a margin of error of approximately ± 2-3 percent at a 95% confidence level, based on data collected through telephonic surveys.
